i just got this exact scope/ring combo for my predator and i realized the bolt handle hits the flip up covers that come with the m-223. have you tried cycling the bolt with the flip up caps on or do you just not use them?

I really dont want to go higher but with a field rifle i love the flip up caps. maybe i will try a butler creek flip up and see if it is slimmer

Haven't tried it with the flip caps. Usually don't run them. Le t me know what you find if you try the Butler Creek's.

Just an FYI-the Warne 2-piece clamp type mounts are hell for stout. You will probably break the scope before these mounts give up. The medium size put a 44mm objective about .110-.115" above the barrel of the .556 MVP varmit. I have a Redfield 6-18 x 44mm Varmit scope w/1" tube. Handle clearance is good too.

Thanks. I tried the butler creek cap and it still hit. I noticed if the bolt was cycled quickly the handle was actually contacting the scope itself.

I had the lgs order some medium leupolds. Hopefully they are high enough. I really don't want to go too high.

    7.62x51 MVP Patrol

-stock rail (the one that comes with the rifle)
-EGW 30mm Practical Aluminum rings (.840")
-Bushnell Elite 1.25-4x24mm with the 4A Illuminated center dot reticle

This is set up as a short to medium range utility rifle for me…I also shoot subsonic through it so a ranging reticle is rather a waste for my application. I am looking to duplicate this set-up so I can have a spare rifle for my daughter to use when she wants to go hunting with me...

Nice, compact, quick handling, and it shoots surprisingly well for a stock 16" barrel...This particular set-up is short enough to allow for (future) forward night vision mounting... https://www.badgerordnance.com/prod...unting-pvs-22-clip-on-style-nv-sights-2/)…now all I need is to save up for the night vision device...

+1 on the Warne rings. Have a set on my Rem 700 .308 and my Ruger 10/22. Very well made and will withstand years of use.

MVP Patrol in .308. Leupold VR-X 3-9x50 Firedot in Warne medium quick detach rings. And no, the rear sight cannot be seen through the scope, nor is there any reflection from the rear sight.

I went with a Nikon M-308 with the Nikoplex reticule and used the mount that came with it.

TALO 7.62, SWFA SS Classic 12x42 MRAD, DNZ Hunt Masters med. Could probably have gone low, but by the math it was too close for comfort. Fit of the DNZ was excellent.

Better to have a tad more room than to find out the bolt fouls the scope bell or some other major hindrance…buy once, cry once...

I've got Leupold medium QRW rings with a Redfield 2-7x33. Also put a Williams Firesight peep on the rear. I notched the Butler Creek el-cheapo front cover to clearance the rear peep.

I think the front sight post on the Patrol rigfle is too high, as the rear peep is all the way forward on my setup.

Plus a rivet in the magwell for the magazine fix, and a bunch of bolt polishing. I haven't done any feed ramp polishing as I don't use hollowpoints much. But my feed issues stemmed from a non-broken in stamped magazine. I've switched to 10 round plastic ones with some dremeling to fit. Canadian AR laws have me using stamped pistol mags for the 10 round capacity.

Oh, this is a 5.56/.223 Patrol rifle.

    Stock Bases
    Vortex 1" LOW Rings
Not a lot of room between bell and barrel, just enough to fit the cap on.

I haven't had any issues with the stock bases, so I don't currently see any reason to swap them out, but has anyone had any experience with the DNZ one piece mount and bases? http://www.dnzproducts.com/product/game-reaper-mossberg/

I will never understand why the 2-7 scope never caught on in America. They were quite popular for a time in European hunting circles, but have never been really hot sellers on this side of the pond, especially when compared to the 3-9 variables…nice setup…and good shooting.

Depends on what I'm doing. Usually SWFA 16x42 in Burris Signature Series high rings on an EGW 1-piece base. Occasionally I put the US Optics ST-10 TPAL on it.

I only use burris sig series rings. I would use medium height but I order my parts for interchangability. Helps when those unexpected failures threaten to take me out of a match if I can yank the parts from another gun.

(Not shown, 3/4" Magpul cheek riser)

    Mildot redicule
    Leupold med 30mm rings
EGW 0 MOA one piece base

I have been very happy with this setup. Vortex offers great value and an outstanding warrenty

Hey, I'm new to WARNE rings. Just picked up a pair @ Cabelas Bargain Cave for $30. Aside from the tricky setup, I'm really pleased with them. I think I will become a WARNE repeat customer. Strange coz I didn't really know about this brand before going to Cabelas. They seen really well made for the money.

does anyone know how to put a picatinny rail directly to the stock? I have the kit using the sling mount, but it is garbage.. OR does anyone know any company that makes stocks?

I'm asking 2 questions really. 1. Does anyone know how to put a picatinny rail onto the wood stock? 2. Does anyone know if there are any companies that make aftermarket stocks other than the MDT LSS aluminum chassis?

This is a thread for scopes, rings, and mounts...

Are you wanting to install a picatinny rail for mounting a scope?

Your questions might be better answered outside of this thread, possibly in their own, new thread.
