I need to provide them to Black Hole Weaponry so they can cut barrels for you guys with .308 MVP's. Puts 6.5CM and all the cool things based on the .308 case within your grasp, switch barrels too!

Need major, minor, relief cut specs, shoulders, tenon length, barrel nut specs, all that good stuff. Thought I'd do y'all a favor and get the data to BHW before someone else has to do it since I'm already doing it for the 5.56 MVP.

Like a two piece taper on collet jobby so you set it and forget no matter how many times you switch barrels.

For the barrel nut I'm not entirely sure what folks are looking for. The question will come up soon. I had planned on using a PTG nut. If folks have thoughts on that I'm listening. I'm not going to re-use the factory barrel nut... that things gross.

does PTG have a 308 nut?

threads are the same as a Savage small shank, 1.062 - 20

I just heard back, they'll do both .308 and .223 based MVP barrels now. I highly recommend them.

I don't think PTG has a barrel nut for the .308 but Black Hole Weaponry does. I have one on my Winchester m70. They're really nice stainless steel and use the Savage barrel nut tool (IIRC they can make it take a big arse wrench if you want instead). I'd expect they can make a barrel nut for the .223 but it'd cost at least twice what PTG is getting for theirs. The one on my Winchester is a one-off AFAIK.

    Rock *. Thanks much.

I've forwarded it on and asked them to add the .308 barrel nut to their catalog as well since nobody else makes one. They're adding the SKU's to their computerized ordering system today and you should be able to call up and order by end of week.

Spamassassin picture this two piece barrel nut.

The aft/inner half threads on the shank like normal but the outer diameter is a long taper and split like a collet.
The forward/outer is contoured on the inside to math the taper of the aft/inner.

Set the head space with the inner then lock it in by tightening the outer onto it BAM ! instant switch barrel of the set it and forget it variety.
