Ordered myself a Howa mini-action rifle in 6.5grendel. Going to use it for hunter gun class in metallic silhouette and when the winds are heavy instead of my .308 for LR/PRS matches.

Been looking hard at them for awhile. Metric threads don't skeer me. AFAIK 1500 triggers fit.

However I was told max mag length is in the 2.350" range on the mini, might be a deal breaker for some combos.

From all the stuff I've heard, Howa puts out a great product. Just wish they made something left handed.

The Howa 1500 is quite literally also a Smith & Wesson 1500 and a Weatherby Vanguard. They're an excellent rifle. Over the years I've owned one of each and they were all very smooth actions. Everything you'd expect from modern Japanese manufacturing techniques. Metric threads might be an issue but not an insurmountable one by any means. I'm considering having the chamber hogged out to 6.5BRX. I could use some of my 7br brass as parent cases of which I have quite a bit. That would require opening the bolt face a bit. We'll see. I want to see if grendel loads will knock down the rams. Ordered all my brass/dies/bullets/chassis this morning.

You order the whole shebang or a barreled action from Legacy? Barreled actions can drop well below 400 at times.

Nah. Got one from my LGS. Thought it'd be fun to shoot the scope it comes with.
