Every gun website has to have an official 1911 thread!

Go! Show em, discuss em, etc.

This was my first 1911, a Springfield GI. Bought it back in 2008 maybe? Soon as I turned 21 I went lookin'

I eventually did a full length guide rod, increased recoil spring, stainless barrel bushing, and also polished the sides of the trigger and the ejection port.

Not sure why I sold it? But I did.

It was a few years i think before I got my current 1911, which is far from traditional. Sig Scorpion. I'm not much of a tacticool guy, but for some reason I feel in love the first time I saw a pic of these things.

I got it maybe 3 years ago? It has been my primary carry gun for a few years, as well as training. It's starting to show some wear, but thats part of what makes it beautiful!

one of those Sigs been on my radar for awhile now!!!

This one is what I shoot in the local matches around here. 1911.jpg

Have a old Colt Delta Elite 10mm tucked away and a Kimber Ultra Carry from the first run of them which I carry almost daily.

Rick H Scout Ion XL-7xx.jpg I had a Colt Gold Cup National Match Series 80, but someone else wanted it REAL bad, so it is sold. My 93 year old father bought me this Fusion just before he passed away. I had a few initial problems with it, but I sent it back and now it shoots sweeet! I tote it in a shoulder rig when deer hunting.

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II in .45ACP myself. Damn accurate pistol as long as I make sure I follow proper trigger control and breathing. Compact pistols are notorious for enhancing any bad form or habits.

Don't waste your money on SIG quasi-M1911s. My latest. Snuggles right behind my hip in a Milt Sparks VersaMax holster.

Maybe they're better now but the SIG so-called M1911 was a POS when it first came out and there a lot on non-M1911 about it.

Huh, they're POS's? Had mine for 3 years and it runs fine. I must have gotten lucky....but not lucky enough to spend $2500-3500+ on an Ed Brown. What a shame for me to "waste my money" on such a "POS" (note sarcasm here).

FWIW, they don't make a "M1911" they make their variant of a 1911, which has quite a few differences including their specific slide profile as well as the external extractor, and firing pin block (both of which can be found on other modernized variations have as well). They do make a "traditional" line of 1911's which lack the rail and have the standard shaped slide profile. Come to think of it, I dont think any true M1911's ever had a bobbed frame? ;)

Perhaps we should just stick to show and tell, and not focus so much on putting down other peoples guns?

one of the regulars shoots a Sig Scorpion and has never had a hiccup with it that I seen. We all shoot reloads, 5gr Bullseye or 231 with 200gr cast or plated bullets, stock springs, just keep them lightly lubed and blast all afternoon.
