I thought so but it was buried in the quote, so wasn't sure. I'll wait for a reply but I'm pretty sure it was an actual Savage barrel.

was a factory Savage barrel I used to check threads and function.

I haven't done anything with the gun since, really leaning on a 6.5 Creed thou.

Hi Guys. I really want to rebarrel my 7.62 MVP LC. So, If I order a small shank Savage prefit, I'm good to go?

    Think i was supposed to
ask if my Mossberg 7.62 MVP lc
Action is the same. They dont
Look similar to what i have ?

"So bottom line, a 308 case head sized small shank Savage barrel, can be a direct swap to get into a different caliber."

Just got this reply from criterion barrels
    Tom,

Although we do not make a barrel specifically for the Mossberg MVP from the research I have done the MVP does not accept Savage barrels, even though the barrel nut design is very similar to the Savage design. Mossberg may have made changes recently to the MVP design but I could not find any definitive answer as to whether they are cross compatible with Savage barrels. I am sorry that I don’t have a better answer for you at this time. If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. I would recommend purchasing a barrel blank and having a gunsmith thread it specifically for the MVP action.

So , not sure. Black hole
said they can make me a barrel
    For the MVP
    Will find out details

    Yes,
An his action in his stock
    Looks nothing like my stock
And have no idea if threads
are the same As my MVP.
    It has been suggested.
    That threads may have
    Recently changed ?

    I don't know , but someone
    In the industry says the
    barrels are not compatible ?
That's all i have to go on.
    Criterion doesn't but
    Other's.. still researching

I don't know enough to be of much help but Spamassin has done a barrel swap, so would probably be the best to answer the question. I believe there is at least one other on here who swapped to a Savage barrel as well. So, apparently it is doable.

I believe the actions on all the MVPs are the same, the only thing that changes is the barrel mounted and the stock for that chosen model.

    Two weeks ago i received
    my Roger 6.5 barrel .
Complete drop in. Nothing to do
    But headspace and go.
    Its shooting 3/8 to 1/ 2
    moa at 100yds.
    I want a 1/2 at 200 yds
    Have some work with my
    hand loads to tighten up
    My group at 200.
I put 4 rounds almost through
    same hole. 1/4 inch.
I couldn't do that with original
    Factory barrel.
I have never been close to
    Doing that with my
    Mossberg.
Just very sad i didn't buy
    The savage. Savage/ rem
    so much after market stuff.
    The barrel on my mvp
    Hammer forged , what
    Market value does a used
    Bad factory barrel go for?

So , when i actually order
    A barrel , i will crush
    This barrel in my huge
Vise , so it doesn't slip
    And take the barrel
Nut off or slice the barrel
    Nut to remove it.

Worked up a Savage barrel on
    Mcgowen barrels website.
Picked a Savage put all the
    parameters in and I'm
    looking at $400 plus
Shipping and i need to send
them my action , just to make
    sure of proper threading .

I thought of doing that so many times.
But i feel i would loose
So much if i sold it.

    New going for like 900
    without scope.
    Used don't know
    I would feel guilty
    i know the barrel sucks.
    The cheapest thing i could
    do , is re-barrel .
If i put a steel 28in heavy target
    On this action in 7mm08
    It would probably be pretty
    Accurate.

I don't know if all mossberg
308/ 7.62 actions are the same
    Does Mossberg make only one
    short action all threaded the
    Same ?
I need a barrel cut and threaded
for my action taking into account
    All of the dimensions correct,
So all i need to do is headspace
    Put rifle back together .
    A few years ago when
    I didn't know much about
    rifle s,calibers , ballistics and
    Reloading , so i bought a Mossberg
    308.
    I don't shoot the mvp anymore .
    I shoot my 6.5cm.

    I can have a barrel
made for it, but i need
To send in my action ,
    So they can match threads?

    I cant believe barrel makers
    Have never replaced a barrel
For the MVP. What am i, the only
    One who bought the 7.62mvp?

If i were to put on a 28" heavy target
Barrel chambered 708 on my MVP chassis,
    1500 meter rifle ?
