Fellas I need help gathering some tech info namely the muzzle diameter and barrel taper for the MVP models Varmint Predator Patrol and Scout 16, 18 and 20 inch barrels in 5.56 and 7.62 caliber.

If you have a good set of mics or calipers please measure the muzzle diameter (or shoulder diameter aft of the flash hider ) and then the next major diameter back near the barrel nut and then the distance between where the the two measurements were taken. From those three we can also calculate the degree of taper for each barrel type and caliber.

The only promise that I'm making right now is that I am still talking to shops about getting some good and rugged wing protected blade iron sights made. They need the data before making estimates.

I can mic the barrel widths but not the length on the Patrol models. Length, the best I can give is from a tape measure. If that is good enough, I'll get you the measurements.

Won't a hood mess with the fiber optic though?

No hoods on M1 Garrand, M14, FAL M16 type front sights but I suppose fiber optic could be an option.

I'll pull some off the MVP varmint today. It'd be nice to be able to slap some irons on it as a backup.
