This is something I put together last year. I was bored and had a fun Idea.Figure some folks may enjoy a short read about a project.

I picked up an old H&R single shot for $70, and then sold a red dot and something else OI forget, for $70. So, out of pocket $0.00 for the shotgun.

    BOOOOORING

Lets see what we can do here?

    CHOP CHOP!

Okay, so now we are left with this....18.25" barrel and an inch off the stock.

Still pretty boring though. Lets spice things up!

    Not bad!

Now we need a sling, i put a stud on the rear, but didnt want to put a stud on the fore end, so i made one out of paracord.

Add in a paracord sling, and we have a finished truck gun!

This lil fella comes on jeep and camping trips in addition to whatever sidearm I'm currently carrying. Total project investment was about $30.00

looking at pictures with tape measures in them, the stock to breech was 15.5, minus 1, so 14.5", plus 18.25" so 32.75" OAL.

Marneaus, you inspired me! I have a thing for single shot H&R's and NEF's anyway, so it made sense. I rescued this 12ga Pardner from a gunshow. Traded a Glock 19 mag, several hundred rounds of 22lr and $25.00 cash for it. Barrel chopped to 18.5" and drilled/tapped the barrel to replace the bead sight. Sure is handy now! I shot a 4" group at 40yds using Winchester Super X 1oz Foster slugs! It will make a great tractor/ farm gun and I am going to challenge myself to use it for deer season next year.

I still have a warm spot in my hart for bobbed off and slimmed down bolt action 16 & 20 gauge shotguns like we had when running trap lines as teenagers.

    Awesome!

I'm glad I inspired you. Not trying to take credit or anything, but you are probably the 6th person to make one of these as a direct response to my build haha. They started popping up on local forums and fireamrs talk and all that.

You should look at doing a "birds head" grip on that gun. That would be an amazing gun. It would essentially be for two legged creatures at that point, but really cool nevertheless.

    My truck gufn:
Cheapo 870 that I got original old wood furniture and made a birds head grip out of an old 870 wood stock. Sanded and stained the furniture gray, and here she is.

You started a grassroots movement to rescue and repurpose the trusty single shot shotgun! We will gladly give you all the credit. :D

Very Nice! I really like the "Witness Protection" package. I am going to cut a butt stock down to a "Mare's Leg" configuration for my NEF. It is 34" AOL right now, so I can take about 7.5" off the stock.

I love that gun, and all its simplicity. Loaded with all 00 buck, and followed by the 7th round a big 'ol slug. If nothing else, I can flip it around and club the snot out of someone with it too :D

Absolutely awesome. I love the witness protection look as mentioned above. It's one of my goals when i get into NFA stuff to build a SBS witness protection setup.

Unfortunately the birdshead would put the gun under the 26" mark by quite a bit.

    Time for a new thread.
