I pulled the 1-4 from my 308 mvp in favor of something with a little more power. Im currently between a Nikon prostaff 2-7x and a Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x. From what I have read they seem to both be well reguarded for a lower cost scope. Anyone have any opinion either way?

I know you get what you pay for/buy once cry once/hurrah Leopold ect ect ect. This is going to be a "get me by" scope untill I have some better financials (in the middle of buying a house) then I will buy up and use this as a backup or put it on my Saiga. Thanks

I aint sure if the Prostaff is the best of the cheap scopes or the best bargin of the expensive scopes. I am sure the glass is above the price point. It's been so long since I messed with a pals Crossfire I cant remember which one was better, sorry. I do remember it was good one.

Yeah after all my research it kind of looks like a coin flip with the slight Edge to Nikon on optical clarity and then a slight Edge to Vortex for the outstanding warranty

The vortex would be my choice. Not happy with Nikon outside their really high end stuff for a few years. Even their high end has suffered. http://swfa.com/Leupold-2-7x33-VX-1-Riflescope-P51823.aspx if you can scrape 70 bucks more that Leupold is in your reach however, I'd just grab the Vortex and save until you have enough for something better. If you're looking for something with a lot more power, I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40mm Mil/Mil on an AR that I'm fixin'a upgrade. Fixed 10x but it's going to be loads better than any of the scopes on your list for glass quality and turret tracking. 30mm tube, painted light sand color with krylon (pic at https://ballisticxlr.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/scopes.jpg). I'll let you have it for 140+10 shipping. I have the box IIRC. Rings can be included for 20 bucks more. They're Burris signature series with eccentric inserts. https://ballisticxlr.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/img_0377.jpg is a pic through the reticle at ram silhouettes at 500m.

Mostly shooting paper and possibly some deer, its also my truck gun so targets may vary lol. Id say 300m max range. I ended up with a vortex 2-7x and it seems like a nice fit for the rifle.

How's the Vortex working for you. I just picked up same rifle and am shopping for optics. Were you able to keep ghost site mounted. I'd like to have a quick release mount in case optics go down.
