Any thoughts or experience? I'm looking at the Versa Max, then a friend told I could buy 2 930's for the price of 1 Versa Max. I'm interested in learning the 3 gun stuff, figured my 870 would be a little slow.

I dabble in 3 gun stuff so I keep up on the different guns etc. I find the 3 gunners put a lot of use on their guns so how a certain gun holds up or the popularity of use is a good indicator of how good it is. Unfortunately I think the 930's are not doing as well as expected, some are having problems. I think the Versamax's are doing well along with the benelli's as usual.

There are a few forums that might be worth looing into if you want to do some research. brinaenos.com has a 3 gun section specifically for shotguns and there is lots of discussion on the various choices, might be worth a look.

Personally while I have owned Benelli's I tend to lean towards Remington's as I have more than a few of them mostly in 12 ga but some in .410( 870 & 1100).

The Benelli M4 is very nice especially with the short fixed (aftermarket) stock. 7-round tube makes these very heavy though.

I highly doubt I'll be shooting as much as I'd like to or as much as some of you do. But reliability is a concern. Thanks for the info

I had a 930 SPX up until about a year ago and it was great. never had any issues. I never three gunned it and have no idea what those guys run through their gun in a given session but I had hundreds of rounds through it and it was great.

Just so you get an idea of their usage, a couple of hundred rounds could easily be one or two weekly practice sessions. When most talk hundreds, they are talking thousands. They also shoot an inordinate amount of slugs as those are used in matches and they have to know where they shoot.

This is what I meant about looking at their shotgun choices as an indication of long term reliability and ruggedness. If a shotgun is going to fail or fall apart these guys will make that happen way before the casual shooter does.

I have seen the white Kryptek version of the 930, I can see the attraction, beautiful SG.

I have a Mossberg 930 JM Pro and love it. I've not done proper 3Gun with it, but done some running and gunning and emptied a few fully loaded tubes a number of times without fail. It feeds and cycles very smoothly. I've mostly used it for trap and skeet which it excels at. YMMV.
