Will these be in the same matte black as the trigger guards? Add one for me regardless

    Curved would have been nicer...

But I'll take what I can get! :)

Guys these are not the finals. These are for testing and the finals will have cupped fronts. I just wanted to let you all see we are working on it. The final price I hope to know by the end of the week.

The color will be the same as the guards with the matt black.

is cupped really going to be better? In thinking about it all, the reason the cupped works well on the m14 release is because you are rocking it backwards, as in you are applying equal pressure across the whole front of the lever as you pull it back.

I feel like a flat design would be more beneficial on this because you are rocking the lever to the opposite side, more or less putting more force on the far edge in order to get it to pivot in the opposite direction as the M14 style.

The M14 magazine catch is not "cupped." That's the back side of it that you don't touch -- and it would be painful in some cases with those two sharp corners.

The M15 mag release is rounded where it makes contact with the thumb -- in the case of the MVP it'll be the finger. No sharp corners for those of us with sissy soft hands.

Just extending the magazine catch is a noble improvement, but why not radius the front so it's easier on the fingers? A stiffer spring should be added to compensate for the extra leverage (either design) or folks will be dropping the magazine just holding the rifle. Recessed as it is now prevents this. Also makes many magazines a PITA to get out of the rifle.

Rounded front will certainly take more machine time and consequently be more expensive.

Same finish as the very nice trigger guard for me, please.

Cupped, Rounded, you know what I'm sayin. I just went and fiddled with the release on my M1A, and I still feel that the "rounded" design works best here because you are rocking the release on a horizontal pivot point, not a vertical pivot.

Again, I wouldnt know which is or isnt more comfortable or useful without having them side by side, but personally a flat "paddle" stle mag release for the MVP sounds like it would work best.

The new MVP magazine release prototype arrived late Tuesday afternoon and I can't get over how nice it feels! I've rounded it all over wherever it's handled, and the front pad is currently flat so that Rob and I can test the fit and function prior to releasing the part for sale. I have no problem putting a curve into that front pad if that is what the majority would like. I can tell you now that the flat paddle with the radius-ed edges is quite nice. I personally like the look of the curved/cupped version myself, but I'd love to hear what the forum has to say. The magazine release will be hard coat anodized in the flat black to match the trigger guards. If some folks would like their mag release in the natural finish, I could certainly pull a few from the batch prior to sending them out for anodizing. We would simply ask that you let us know now so we can have an idea as to how many we should put to the side. Here are a few shots of it in its current prototype configuration.

Looks very nice. With the additional leverage I think a heavier spring may be necessary to avoid accidental release.

My opinion on a curved front face is widely known! :)

    "Should be" black anodized.

I'm in for an anodized one regardless of round or flat face. Lemme know when it's time to send funds.

ETA: If you keep making cool upgrades like this, we're going to have to upgrade the emoticon choices to include that dancing banana...

I think it looks good, only thing I would do is add some sort of serrations on the front to increase the grip on it.
