I finally got my 5.56 Patrol to the range to get the iron sights sighted in.

I didn't use anything special since it is "only" iron sights, 55 gr American Federal.

The rifle was zeroed at 50 yards since that zero gives a good high/low tolerance out to 225 yards.

Anyway, I didn't do bad for irons only with cheap ammo. The rifle did have a rather impressive muzzle flash due to the short barrel.

None to shabby right out the box ! Just wait until the bore is broken in and you find it's favorite ammo ;)

Thanks gentlemen. Believe it or not, I did better with my M&P10 the next day at 100 yards. I'm still working on zeroing the scope, so did not save targets or take pictures. The irons are where I want them but I ran out of match ammo for the scope (I thought I had a full box - surprise!). Anyway, got it close with some bulk, Lake City stuff but the scope is specifically calibrated with 168gr BTHP Match rounds in mind.

Once pay day hits, I'll pick up some more and finish the job right. I need an excuse to get the big MVP out and get a better "bragging" target out of it too. Oh, and this Sportsman's club has a 200 yard range, so I want to see what it can do there. I've only gotten it out to 100 before. And if fortune smiles on me, perhaps I'll be able to get some better .223 ammo too! ;)

Keith, did you shoot .223 or 5.56? I have been trying 5.56 cause that's what the barrel is. Just wondering if there is much of a difference the way the neck seats.

Only .223 so far. I probably should get some 5.56 and see what it does as well. I just wanted to get a basic sight in, so went cheap on the ammo. When I get a scope, I'll definitely be getting better ammo to sight that in.

If I remember and think about it, I'll pick up some 5.56 and .223 to compare both side by side and look at the spent cases.
