I'm looking for a good cheap scope for my old Marlin 22. I would like to stay under 30 if possible. Also I'll need mounts too.

Only scope I know of in that $30 range is the Tasco Pronghorn 3-9x32 scope. As far as is it good.. well it holds zero.. I wouldn't use it during lower lighting but it works fine. I have one on my old Stevens bolt action 22. It works but don't expect much beyond plastic lenses and cheap Chinese craftsmanship. As far as rings well cheap scopes just grab cheap rings whatever fits such as the el cheapo weaver line (can't remember what they are called) but are like $12 but a pain to get on but once set they are perfectly fine for a .22 the top is like spring steal that you kind of prey the metal apart then slip the scope in. again utter pain in the butt to get in and set which is why I typically avoid them and spend more but they work. If you really wanted better then what I mention above then your going to end up putting out more money. While prices have got better over the years for decent quality scopes this is pretty much the bottom as far as price range so you can't really expect much. oh the reticle is a standard target style with the lines and a dot in the center. So I guess it meets your cheap but good is subjective so I won't comment on that.

I have a simmons 3x9 rimfire on my model 60 marlin . I bought the gun 30 years ago for 40.00 and had to make an extractor spring out of a zippo lighter flint spring . the scope is probably 20 years old and the rifle is still probably the most accurate 22lr I own.

Hey Jason... maybe a dealio for you. I have an old 60's era Japanese made first focal plane 3-9x with a 30/30 reticle (can be used for ranging). It's got solid internals and while it's not as bright as it could be it's actually a hell of of a little scope. I'm fixin'a do up the .22 it's on for competition shooting so it's going to get a new higher end target scope soon.

I'll sell you the 3-9x for 30 bucks plus shipping and you have to post a picture of your bare foots supporting your Marlin in this thread (told you you better have purdy tootsies). It's 100x better of a scope than you'll get for 30 bucks nowadays. I'll include whatever rings it's in which I think are Weaver .22 dovetail mount rings. Should set right nice on that Marlin.

The scope looks like any ol' 3-9x34mm black scope. Probably a few scratches. I rarely use that gun so it's not fresh in my head.
