Tyler Kee of TTAG gives a thorough rectum reaming. Basically, turrets suck, return to zero is fail sauce, optical quality is surprisingly good. This sort of product is what makes riflemen continue to make the same mistakes. When your instruments are wrong you're going to crash the plane. Same thing with a scope.

If you're looking for turrets that track like mad and usable glass quality at less than a weeks' pay, look to SWFA and don't bother with illumination. That's my tip. After you climb over SWFA SS money into SWFA HD money the world is full of choices and SWFA is still a good option, among the best, until you pass the 1000 dollar mark by a good ways.

As always I'm not pooing on anyone's scope. I'm hoping to educate about the difference between just usable and properly done.

Th biggest thing with Bushnell for me is I never know when I'm looking at a good one. I know they make them, I just don't know which ones they are without doing a libraries worth of research to find out.

I have heard some good things about SWFA.

The Elite line, 4200's, 3200's and 6500's are all very good scopes. Basically, you get what you pay for applies. The Bushnell ET1040 and 3200 10x40 are some of the best optics for the money one can get but they are a very much entry level. Not a lot of features but every one done well. Occasionally I'd get one with turrets that would drop a click here and there but RMA and getting a new one was quick and easy. SWFA in their SS line is excellent in every way. Their HD line is just this side of tier 1.
