Got it today and installed it in about 3 mins. Beefy feel and functions perfectly. Range time tomorrow for more testing. [IMG]

looks like you used maybe burlap for the pattern on the paint job. Am I correct? It's not a bad choice for a base pattern. Any thoughts to applying a bit of breakup to the lines? Leaf shapes or color fade-in/outs etc..

I did, and actually I have been thinking about redoing the paint entirely using the sponge method.

You know what I found turns in cool patterns? Lace. Like doilies and that kind of stuff. Lace designs are intricate and most of the space is open which ends up being the part that takes the color. Also many of the traditional lace designs have floral patterns which lend themselves well to our purposes. On one of my rifles I painted the whole thing in a tan and FDE faded undercoat and then used a bunch of fescues, barley, wheat and spanish oat in front of them to do the dark colors. Ended up with the plants in tan on the stock and the rest in greens and blacks and browns.

That sounds like a good idea as a bonus I will have a real excuse for digging in my wife's underwear drawer.

Mine would gut shoot me and kick dirt in it if the merest thought about such a course of action even contemplated the possibility that it might be able to cross my mind.

Got my extended mag release as well. First, it's a well made item that works perfectly. Second, why on earth would Mossberg decide to cut theirs down flush with stock is beyond comprehension.

Possibly to reduce any chance of accidential release of the mag. I have the extended release, but I am always a bit concerned about accidential release, especially if I am walking in the woods where the mag could be lost.

I guess that makes some sense. And have you ever accidentally hit the release and the mag dropped? It seems that bumping it wouldn't release it, you have to apply a more consistent pressure to it. But you do have a point.

I have not accidentially hit it only because of my concerned awareness. However, I have pushed it to test the way it works, and I find that usually it requires a slight upward pressure on the mag to get it to release, but, I have had it release without pushing upward on the mag. I like the product and the concept, and I like the trigger guard as well. They are both quality items, and I am not bashing them at all. I hope Rob and the guys continue to bring us upgrades and innovative products for the MVP. My lifestyle makes this rifle practically my "sidekick."

Can you take a picture of the front of the release so I can see the width. Thanks! Also I like the paint, thinking of doing that with my 308 varmint/scope
